Document Destruction

All businesses are required by the Data Protection Act (1998), and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into effect in May 2018, to protect confidential data and dispose of it in an appropriate and timely manner. To enable you to comply with this legislation, DataSpace Scotland offers a full confidential secure document destruction service.

Should you have documents or files on your own premises that require document destruction, we will supply sacks free of charge to enable you to fill them with documents for shredding, and we will collect these from you with our own staff and Dataspace vehicles. Alternatively, we will collect boxed documents from you for confidential secure document shredding.

Where the documents are already in store with us, you will be notifed when the items reach their end of life review date, and we will await written instruction from an approved and authorised person before any items will be destroyed.

  • Individual Documents or files
  • Sacks of documents/files
  • Archive boxes of documents

  • Media tapes
  • CD/DVD media

Any materials for destruction are passed through a highly secure and confidential cross-cut shredding operation, ensuring the total loss of the data.

All destroyed material is forwarded to a local recycling plant registered with the Environment agency, where the waste is re-entered into the supply chain.
