The Cost of Storing Files Internally

Did you know that storing files internally is much more costly than you probably realise ?
Recent reports have been conducted in the United States with results of these studies as below :

30% of all employees' time is spent looking for documents (Boston's Delphi Group)

15% of all paper handled in a typical business gets lost (Boston's Delphi Group)

Each lost piece of paper costs a business $120 (Boston's Delphi Group)

The cost to retrieve a single page document is $12 (International Records Management Trust and Weiss)

It takes one additional employee to maintain every 12 filing cabinets (PWC/Fujitsu)

This equates to $1,500 p.a. per cabinet (ONS average general office worker salary of £18K)

$8,500 per annum to provide accommodation for each employee (National Audit Office)

35% more occupancy can be generated by removing filing from internal storage (Project Nomad)

With all businesses looking to drive down costs and increase revenue, now is the time to consider offsite file storage to help your business retain access to your files at al times but significantly reduce the cost of storage and retrieval for these. Further advantages can then be realised by using the freed up space more economicaly to your advantage.
Even further again, your disaster recovery capability will be significantly improved also since your files will still remain safe even if your premises do not following for example, a fire, allowing you to take up temporary premises and continue your business until everything returns to normal.
If you also store your backup data with an offsite storage provider (and it is absolutely crucial that backups are stored offsite away from your business premises), then not only will your paper files be safe but your data files and databases too... your customer and prospects contact details, your accounts data, details of who owes you money & how much, and more...

Can you really afford to lose these ?
