Google lost all Gmail data and restored it from Tape

Back in 2011, Google had a bug which deleted all Gmail data for all users. It affected all servers & replication servers. They successfully restored it all from TAPE.

Although this happened back in 2011, don't think this couldn't happen to your business...... If you don't backup to tape, and only move data around from one server to another, in different buildings, or even in different countries, you can still lose your data, as Google did, through many possibilities - a software bug, a virus infection, or even through deliberate or accidental data deletion

Tape backup, where taken regularly and stored offsite away from your servers, will ensure your data can be restored should a disaster situation occur. Because tape is offline, the data is securely stored & ready for restore should you require it.

DataSpace Scotland recommend disk to disk backup (for fast restore), plus tape backup for complete data protection. If your data significantly changes daily then you need a tape backup daily and you need to store it offsite securely daily too.

Can you imagine the chaos to your business if you lost your data, or even a significant proportion of it ? Isn't the security of your data worth it ?

Why not talk to DataSpace Scotland about implementing a robust data backup structure to tape - Call us on +44 (0) 1786 870967 or email us on sales@dataspacescotland.co.uk
